About Us

Canterbury Brass is an A Grade Brass Band based in Christchurch. We are an active band that enjoys sharing our music with the community in which we live.We perform a wide variety of musical styles, including:

• Jazz/swing;

• Classical;

• Music from movies and musicals;

• Bavarian;

• Marches; and

• Music composed for brass.

Our performances over the past two years have been extensive and varied, such as:

• Our own concert series

• Smiths City Santa Parade;

• An International soccer match;

• Summertimes events including Sunday Bandstand, Teddy Bear’s Picnic, Starry Nights and Classical Sparks;

• Guest artists with Christchurch Symphony Orchestra on two occasions;

• Christchurch Anzac Day Citizens’ Service in Christchurch Cathedral and Armistice Day Parade; and

• National and Provincial Brass Band Championships.

While it is difficult to estimate total audience numbers, we are confident that the band is seen and heard by over 100,000 people annually.
